was it some sort of forestry logging machine
It was a sand levelling machine, it used to tow a huge scraper around a beach to level and grade the sands . I had two of these and cut the other up for spares, need to get a bit creative and think of another use for it. I did have a forklift mast on it but at 8` wide it was way too big and clumsy so cut it off.

When our dad was on the leccy board in the 70s they had a piste bully for getting up onto the fell sides. At one point they were putting posts in and the digger couldn’t access the areas so they chained it to the back of the snow cat and dragged it up the fellI recall in the dim & distant (about 22 years ago) seeing wheeled "Piste-bully type dozers grading the sand lining of a reservoir settling pond and various water filtration beds.
