what type of code to aim for?

Hello all,
I am new to the forum and hope some people can help me out here. I am a qualified sheet metal worker of 10 years but have been based working in ventilation and the only time I have welded was in the college phases of my apprenticeship. I reached a decent level of TIG and MIG back then but have not done it since, although always enjoyed it, esp TIG.
I am returning to Australia in the new year and hoped to do a night course here in Ireland to get a good level of welding back and then attempt to gain some codes.
I intend to work in Western Australia again when I go back. Can anyone tell me which code would be most beneficial? I was thinking about pipe welding mainly? Also what money could be earned over there in the bush?

Coded TIG Welding

I was a sheet metal worker and I was coded for stainless Steel TIG up to 10 swg in aircraft and marine. I would say forget the coding take the course, then get a job which includes TIG welding. In this country the company will get you coded if that is needed. When I worked in WA they wanted the trade qualification before they would employ you. There is a lot more to TIG welding than most people realize and I would be suprised if a college course
would bring you up to a coding standard, unless you are a natural welder. but the best of luck. I used to enjoy TIG welding. I am retired now.
