I'm pretty good with tools, but not so good with consumables.

Several times I've went to a hardware shop, bought 100 bolts of a certain size "cos I know we use that size" to come home and realise we haven't used the last 100 bolts I bought last time either

I get the same, see my tools in sons garage, I get “you gave that to me Dad, don’t you remember” he must think I’m stupid

My dad sometimes asks me if I've seen a tool he's looking for, the answer is usually along the lines of "Err yeah you gave it to me about five years ago". It's gotten to the point now where I'm giving him my old tools.

years ago i used to have a few nuts bolt and a few screws in a box never had the right size or lenth now i got 2 shelfing units with meny drawers in each and 5 cases with plastic inserts to seperate all the shapes and sizes

AND STILL NEVER HAVE THE SHAPE OR SIZE I NEED

just this morning i had to go and buy a 6mm 8cm lenth

have 10 boxes of dewalt screwdriver bits. hadn't forgot I had them just forgot where I put them safe . been looking for a week no joy . just bought another box and yes the usual the rest turned up in a plastic box under a bag of plaster I dumped on top of

Not so much forgetting tools I have but forgetting who has borrowed them , lost a Snap On and a Mac oil pressure gauge kits , lent them both as there was a couple of fittings in each that were different

I've lent out a small box pan folder and a tube cutting jig and someones coming over to borrow my wall chaser soon!
I really should put them on my chalkboard so I don't forget.

That's a tall order request. I find tools I forgot about almost every time while looking for one I do remember I have in my storage facility.

i once bought a new blind bearing puller kit to rebuild a transfer box.... only to find 2 sets a week or so later... id bought a set a couple of years before and never used it.....

Gave up lending stuff out. If you do get it back it's usually knackered .

I worked for a crateing service back during my college days. It was a small shop, and the owner had a sign on the tool room door which said...…………….
" I'd rather lend my dog than a tool, as least he knows how to find his way home. "

Not quite the same but I had a wee generic fault code reader that I bought "just in case".
Cant find it anywhere. I have a feeling I lent it out, but to who I just don't know

Aye, I had a Gunsons Gastester that probably got lent to the same person

I went to dig the lathe motor out and found another three phase motor, 1hp, completely forgot I had it!
