What tools did you forget you had?

Decided to have a bit of a tidy as things are not where things are remotely supposed to be.

Started with the boiler cupboard and apparently I'm the proud owner of an 18v milwaukee impact driver with case that I have no recollection of, followed by a Bacho saw with magnetic protector and finally a new plastering float which has been relocated to the box with the 2 I knew I had.

Been a good evening so far.

i know what i got but can never find it when i want it not i dont put stuff away i do

but when a get new tools they have to be accessable for the stuff i use most of the time that means stuff not used offen get moved then i cant find them

Found seven accurite glass scales that I got about 15yrs ago to fit to the lathe and mill.
I remember the long one for the lathe bed cost a fortune as I got clobbered for import duty from the usa on it.
Never fitted them and found them tucked on the top of a cupboard in the workshop. Looks like the mice have bad a good go at the boxes. Didn't feel like looking inside to see if they are still ok or not!

Nothing too big or expensive duplicated in error but I did find two sets of 3/8" drive eTorx sockets when I though I only had one.

Couple of days ago I found a Makita electric planer in the bilges of my sailing boat, in a bin bag. I put it down there about 3 yrs ago, when I used it to plane off the pad of my left middle fingertip, and I just coukdn't bear the sight if it no more.
Still got my DNA stuck under the blade probly. Nasty thing.

20mm carbide (insert) tipped boring bar after I'd ordered one for my "engineer's paperweight thing", which doesn't take any inserts I've got, nor the ones I ordered with the new one. Typical

actualy a few years ago i was working at a mates relaying a few long runs of bricks that had come loose

cleared up cant find my marshell town pointing tool was a bit worried as im quite good putting tools way 2 weeks later i needed the pointing tool for a job in a few days i hunted for a couple of hours but no luck

bought another marshell town next day in the post it arives i take it out the packet as my son walks walks by why you bought one of those was his words i cant find mine and i need it he walks in to the garage attached to the house streight back out here you go beaming i asked where was it he said in big box of screws

now i know i did not put it there any way i now got 2 of them

couole days later i was sorting the wall at the front of the house otherhalfs dad was round he said why you got 2 of them explained one was lost and son found the other he said oh i thrown it in there when we where cleaning up

Not quite the same but I had a wee generic fault code reader that I bought "just in case".
Cant find it anywhere. I have a feeling I lent it out, but to who I just don't know

I think I left the milwaukee there last time I was around , but I dont suppose you remember that either...

Among some tools I was given that had been left in someones unit and were being thrown out, was a rather nice looking spirit level with no bubbles. I sourced some level bubbles and restored it. Haven't seen it since! Typical. My capacitance meter appears occasionally but NEVER when I need it. I'm yet to find the two 3/8 speed braces that I bought 15 years ago and were last seen in the garage and to my knowledge, never left. I will soon replace my shed which is 60 years old and I'll be able to sort through all of my possessions one by one.

I had to go out and buy another set of coil spring compressors to remove the very long front springs out of an old Saab mid way through. As I got them on the bench, I started to get a bit of de ja vue so hunted around a bit and yep, I'm now the proud owner of 3 sets.

I often marvel at how many tools I "own" when I visit

I have no idea where he gets it from, akthough I may have heard my dad say "I used to have one of those" when he visits me

I don't really forget which tools I have - but there are loads in crates in my warehouse that I can't get at

Hoping in about 2 years to move to a nice big house with a big outbuilding so I can set everything up and use them properly.

Joking aside, I have a mooch in all my gear every so often, just to remind myself of what I have. Nothing worse than knowing/thinking you have xyz but cant find it until you’ve gone and bought another

Pc dumped the graphics card, went too get the old one to put back in and there's a brand new Nvidea one in a box ???? not the right connecter but for 2 quid it's worth a shot !

I get the same, see my tools in sons garage, I get “you gave that to me Dad, don’t you remember” he must think I’m stupid
