What to do with a freelander td4?

Some elderly friends have an 2004 freelander td4. They have had it for many years but haven't used it in a year now for medical reasons - it has just been sat idle on the driveway. They will never use it again so now want rid of it. I did get it started and running last weekend and took it up the road and back, but will need tyres, brake discs at very least and engine has a slightly uneven idle - it was fine when parked up.
I was just going to tell them to scrap it as it is looking a bit down at heel but it is the high spec one with leather, big wheels etc and only 75,000.

eBay seems full of either 2k+ good ones, or people breaking them, but nothing in between. Does anyone know about these things and would it be worth £500 to someone as it drives okay? I have no interest in taking it on or breaking it for parts, but it we could get something back for them it would be better than crushing it.

I'm looking for a 'dog van' but I'm guessing it needs a lift and shift?

To be honest. You would be better advertising it as spares or repair. Srap value is down at the moment.

People go nuts for the td4's, stick 5 elcheapo tyres on it, mot it and stick it on eBay when it starts getting cold

It's in south west cornwall so it rather limits the market! I don't want to spend any time or money on it, gumtree may be the way to go as at least I can weed out the random eBay bidders who expect to drive it home.

It does drive but I only drove it round the close, it would need trailering.

Yep - sorry but too far for me, I think your price is about right and as scrap round here last week was about 35 quid for a small car they would do better if its sold in a local ad etc.

Besides its a shame to see a potentially viable car go to waste.
