I am currently using a BOC transmig 140 which seem to be very good for general workshop repairs.But alas they guy who owns it is moving away so he is taking it.Do i need to spend a lot to replace it with something of simular quality,or is there somthing out there that will be ok for general workshop,bodyrepair use (semi-pro i 'spose).

I can only speak for the Portamig, I have the 235 and its brilliant, had it for 15 months, switch on and weld, never a single wire feed issue.
I do believe the Parweld is good too, I just don't have the knowledge to give a fair comparison.
Steve of Weldequipe will give you the honest crack about them both if you give him a ring.
