I am building a Lotus Seven style car. The chassis is 1 inch square 16 gauge cold rolled steel. Most of the joints are at 90 degrees. I am new to welding and have purchased a Lincoln Mig Pak 15.
I was quite happy with my first few attempts at welding. But as this is an automotive chassis I want to make sure I am doing it right.
What techniques should I employ when welding my chassis? Do I zig or do I zag?
How do I know when my welds have the correct penetration?
What do I do when I screw up a weld and it needs to be redone?
