I have a very nice low mileage 97 merc which is rust free (rare!) except a couple of small area on the inner lip of two wheel arches due to stone chips.
This is surface rust not rot.
I was going to clean to metal using a dremel with a wire brush including around the edge and inside face a little just in case.
Then use zinc primer (have been advised to use a rust converter first in case of any micro rust left brushing/washing well prior to the zinc primer)
Then use normal primer/base/lacquer.
I will be using an airbrush to paint as do not want to paint a panel as original and the outer is not affected.
The inner arches are rust free but might coat in bilt hamber epoxy mastic to try and keep them that way.
Any better suggestions as want to do a good job of keeping the car free from rust for future owners.
Thanks.
