What Spray Gun 1 or 2?

Hi,

I'm looking at getting a new spray gun, but I'm not sure which one of these will suit my compressor?

SPRAY GUN 1:
Sealey Gold S701 G
1.4mm
30-50 psi
6-11cfm

SPRAY GUN 2:
Sealey HVLP741
1.4mm

Any help will be appreciated

im not a compressor expert but gun 2 needs 15cfm to run constantly, your compressor is only 6.5cfm, so as i see it unless your wanting to paint in short blasts gun 2 is out of the question, and to be fair, looks like your compressor will struggle to keep up with gun 1, if you comp had a bigger receiver then you might get away with it, but that setup (whichever gun) wont really be suited so spraying say body panels or similar.

If I was to use a bigger liter compressor, it still would not be adequate enough because the cfm isn't enough?. I won't be spraying a whole car, just panels occasionally.

yes a larger litre tank will help, i have a similar gun to your gun 1, and a 7ish cfm compressor with a 25 litre tank, i can just about do 1 side of a door, i have to take it steady tho to let the pressure rebuild a little tho, i couldnt do it in 1 go,

I have a tiny Rockworth compressor with a 6 litre tank, it's designed for nail guns. It reckons about 6cfm free air. It's nearer 3 I reckon, if that. However I have sprayed land rover body panels, getting what (for a Land Rover) is a great result with a cheap no name gun and this compressor. I do have to let the pressure build sometimes, but it still works, just a bit slower.

It depends what you want to spray and to what level, I am hugely impressed with my panels, but a Land Rover is different to a car.

I know exactly what you mean, I used a cheap £12 spray gun and and got good results. Although the spraying width wasn't wide enough, hence me looking into getting a new spray gun.

Now that I am looking into getting a spray gun I noticed the compressor might not be up to the job, but like you said just wait a couple of seconds and the tank builds up it's pressure.

To be able to run a HVLP spray gun efficiently requires a big compressor, which is just out of my budget.

Anyone know of any LVLP spray guns brands out there going for a good price? £40/50 or so?

If you are going to spray 2k paint your compressor is only adequate to supply the air fed mask that you will need, these use about 6cfm.
