What regulator setting?

Ive just picked up a Clarke mig pro 90 mig. I will be using it with the 600g disposable canisters.

Just need to know what setting to have the regulator on? The settings are 0-9.

Its my first welder so not sure what setting to use really. Ill be using .6mm wire and welding exhausts, cars etc etc

The normal flow required is 10 litres per minute, the regulator you have will not easily allow you to know how this relates to your settings so a flowmeter is one way of getting an idea if you are near.
You should be able to hear a 'hiss' at the shroud and gently (not strongly) feel it on your face..watch the wire does not stab you though.
Disposables are hard work and expensive, much better to find a local independant dealer.

The regulators for the disposable bottles usually have to be turned fully up to get enough gas flow.

Ill order up a flow meter on monday.

Ill see how i get on with the small bottles to start with then see about getting a big bottle after

A friend of mine used to use the disposables and he used to have to turn the gas off between tacks to make them last more than a few minutes. Treat the regulator knob as an on/off switch, there is no in between with adjustment.

If you get the CO2 disposables, they will last considerably longer. Not as nice to use but not as ridiculously expensive.

so you actually got the clarke 90, how you finding it? tbh i would just get a pub CO2 bottle and a propper regulator. you should be able to pick up a bottle for £20 or so depending on if you know the local landlord well enough.

big bottles are defiantly the way to go i started with pub gas and still have one for spare
