What regulator/flow meter for MIG?

Ive been reading on here about using a regulator/flow meter for MIG use. I'm about to sign up to the SGS bottles after my pub CO2 will run out soon and I'm looking for better welds. At the moment I'm using what I think is just a pressure gauge and a peashooter but I'm of a mind that I'm using a bit too much gas, plus I may have the wrong kit anyway. The guage in the picture is for argon.
I could do with some advice on exactly what I need to buy that will screw onto the SGS bottle that will work properley. Thanks. Steve

That one should work fine although it looks like someone has swapped the inlet fitting.
Do you have the original fitting?

I don't have any other fittings that came with the shooter (I think) What am I looking for? I have a box of brass fittings in the workshop.
The other question I have is what pressure should I set the guage to and where the pea should be when the torch is opened when working inside?

you dont set the pressure...the pressure gauge is to show you whats in the bottle, it sets itself based off bottle pressure when you open the valve.

as for flow, on mig i set mine to 8-10lpm on the flow meter.

the fitting you need is a bullnose type fitting for the argon bottle, as seen here

you could just buy a new argon reg then fit your flow meter to it for fine tuning of gas flow. its how mine is set up for the mig

I normally buy out of date two stage regs off e bay , they save the price of themselves in gas savings in two bottles of gas or less , after that its win win

I'll have a look in my store tomorrow. I may have changed the fitting. It was a long time ago when I bought it. I'm beginning to understand how it all works now.
Come to think of it, I think I was using it on the BOC bottle that I gave up sometime ago but minus the flo meter.
