What is this tool?

Picked this long-handled gardening implement up for £3 yesterday.
It’s obviously very old but what would it have been used for?

Stuff like that seems to fetch a surprising amount if you clean the rust off and blacken it, new handle perhaps

It's likely not toooooooo old, and probably made in Germany by Wolf , as it has that sort of pressed steel style of theirs.
Post war for sure, and a bit of a horticultural gimmick, I'd reckon, rather than a serious professional garden implement.

@oldbikedavey - my Mrs into this Wolf "change the head" gardening tool stuff with alloy handles - and I would agree it all a gimmick.

I am old school - anything I use in the garden gotta have a wooden handle.
