I want to weld a small 304 SS or 316 SS part to 17-4 PH SS rod. I bought 308L and 316L filler rod, but someone has told me that is not the best. This will be used in a marine application which is why I had chosen 316L as filler rod, but if I can't use that, what is the recommended filler rod for this?
On another note, what is the best filler rod to TIG weld 316 SS to mild steel? And can I use just pure Argon or do I have to get another bottle with a 25% Carbon Dioxide + 75% Argon mix?
