This is a quality tool superbly made, adjustable clamping pressure. locks closed. Closing handle cams top plate down & pulls lower plate up with threaded screw this adjusts clamping pressure.

Dependant on the size , it looks like it could be used to clamp 2 sheets together,ie car panels. The spaces inbetween could be for spot welds,i've seen similar but more flimsier tools in cromwells.

150 mm end to end, die 45mm wide 15mm deep, has a No on handle 1889, it is really well finished, handle alloy die steel finished in gold & silver does not appear to be paint cant mark with thumb nail.

I go with Bob the train, sort of, it clearly grips something similar to a chain, but the cut-outs mean something is protruding or allowing access.

?Maybe you only have half a set?
