It depends if your looking for a job or working for yourself. There are vacancies near me that pay between £8 and £12 an hour or another place a bit further away paying £16, if your self employed then set your own rate that your happy with. I have a lot of repeat custom and I charge £35 an hour
if you employ a guy for say £15 per hour and he uses £5 of consumables an hour and you also pay NI , employers insurance, holiday pay, rent on your unit, plant cost , non productive chargeable office staff etc etc. not to mention a bit of profit that can soon get to £50 an hour.
So is the decent rate chargeable ? or payable? the £50 is chargeable the £15 is payable but it all then depends on local area, sector etc.
I repair machines, trucks and tankers. Both mobile and in my workshop. I charge some customers more depending how often I work for them and two customers less because I work or them every week
