What gas in France

Does anyone know what make/type gas I can get in France that I can use my regulator that I have for BOC argoshield?

Are you asking what gas mixes are available or if the screw thread fittings are different?
If its gas, Air Liquide, offer various mixtures of argon and co2, Lindt do anything from Nitrogen to weld with, all depends if you want pretty welds or if youre covering it in betton.
When you set up an account they'll ask you.
Theres also a supplier called 'aga' but I haven't found a distributor locally.
Metro do a cheap deal on pub gas. Prob best not to mention its for welding.

I bought a little oxy-acetylene set-up, thought it was air-liquide turned out to be 'aga', that's where I'm getting confused, brain bunged up. Bon fetes et tout ca monsieur Fluffy.

I wanted to know if there are any bottles in France that I can use my regulator on.
Was looking at air liquide was told that they have new bottle that is for use with all mild steel think it was called arcal mag, replaced a couple of other types. But dont think my reg will fit.

Does any of you know the cost of gas and the rental charge for the equivalant of argon/co2 either full size or a "half" sized bottle, my BOC one is likely to run out in the next couple of weeks,

I just got quoted for air liquide 3 years rental 172 euros plus 71 euros refill for mid size (boc y size) bottle.
So for the first bottle it is going to be 243 euros,plus the cost of a reg as the reg is different.

The Air Liquide ARCAL cylinders have the regulator built in, so no need for your BOC type one.

It depends on which type. The altop have everything built in, the smartop has just the bottle pressure gauge. The altop is around 90 Euros more to rent over the 3 years than the smartop. So I have been out today and got a single gauge flowmeter regulator which was 35 Euros. I will now go tomorrow and get the arcal mag smartop. I was trying to find out what the mix was for the arcal mag, and have been told today that the arcal mag has replaced the arcal 24 (which is the same as argoshield universal which I have been using). It does get a bit confusing.

I got my argon cylinder from SAGA as it happens. I think it worked out about 100e cheaper over the period than the air liquide cylinders, plus they do nitrous oxide, oxy acet and loads of other gas types. I just picked up a local cheapie argon gauge to use with it on my tig. I dont have any numbers or invoices to hand to confirm prices as its all tucked away in storage at the moment.
The only slight ball ache is driving to the depot for the changeover, but theyre the same distance to me as the air liquide depot anyway!

Its the reason I am going to get the air liquide arcal mag because it is closer to me, around 10km away.
