What Epoxy Primer

What epoxy primer for bare metal car restoration. I asked a friend who works at Dingbro and he said they have Max Meyer system but they don't keep an epoxy primer. He was going to look up if Max Meyer do one. I was watching a whiteland restorations utube video and he said lechler epoxy was all you would need. Anybody got reccomendations?

If you are doing the pretty bits as well as hidden, then Lechler 29107. If only doing hidden bits, then Jotun seems to fit the bill.

There's loads of threads on this if you do a search. I would imagine all the good brands will be decent.

My supplier only stocks selemix. It seems to work for me.

Lechler sprays on nicely, Jotun doesn't. I used both on my first project but on my second I decided to just use Lechler all over.

Express paints for lechler . You can buy 1tlr upto 5ltr .

A consideration sometimes overlooked is how well the primer cures.

If you are in the UK and don't have much if any heating in your workshop then you'll want fast hardeners/ cold weather hardeners. E.g Lechler 29107 fast for on show bits and jotamastic winter grade elsewhere.

PPG epoxy primer for example basically won't cure if temps drop below 15c during the first 24hrs.
I had a similar experience with HB989 epoxy primer. Definitely some white knuckle days before it finally hardened- I mixed thoroughly at the correct ratio, applied it at 15C and then used panel heaters for about 6 hours with panel temps anywhere from 15c to 50c and it was still soft for several days after. The fast lechler was much butter but perhaps not quite as good a build and sandability.

I have some 115 year old wrought iron windows to repaint,they’re simple flat bar frames,no fiddly bits,my workshop is unheated,my regular supplier sells jotun products,is that a suitable product? Thanks.
