a friend bought their all terrain forklift to move some cars for me, got it all done and then the rear driveshaft started clanking, come off the transfer box and knackered the thread on the end,
what do you reckon, try to retap it in situ, or dismantle the lot and replace the shaft
Looks like a strip down job, chasing a very fine thread with a die nut to clean it up would be very award in situe in terms of keeping it running true, alternatively undercut the thread and make a nut to suit
Sanderson per chance?, By the time they got to building the TL7s you had to weld the nut to stop it keep drooping the shaft. May be repairable, however the splines may be worn on both witch will only put you back to square 1.
If it is sanderson I assume parts are still available, been bankrupt some years now.
its a merlo, great little machine, ive checked the bearings and no taper bearings, just normal bearing one side and needle bearings the other, i will be tacking the nut on after reassembly (dont want it happening again), got the shaft out and going to price up a new one first, and see how much ive got to play with, might see if it can be turned down and rethreaded and replace with a slighty smaller nut. we'll see
