The best way to see if it's giving you the current you ask of it is by producing a macro. Cut and etch your weld to see the fusion/penetration generated.how would it be tested to see what the amperage its putting out actually is then? Now bearing in mind its running off a extension cord as my electric in the shed hasnt been installed yet. Its about 15 metres rolled out so i would say thats were im loosing power?
A lump with a hammer won't tell you much at all.
A face bend will only tell you about the actual stress that weld can take under a bend and it will also reveal any defects more clearly like under cut and lack of fusion on the weld toes.
Nick break is another home doable test but this is more to find defects in the welded section as it will break along the weakest point.
