What can you tell me about my welds?

This is a new gearbox crossmember I've made for my defender 90.

The welder is a sealey supermig 185, with 0.6mm wire, CO2 gas and its 3mm steel plate and 3mm box section.

The weld looks OK, but what can the more experienced welders telll me about my welding?

get some 0.8 wire
are you left handed?
obviously the welds wont look as good as with co2/argon due to 100% co2 has an unstable arc. that will increase the amount of spatter and it wont make the welds flow smoothly hench the bumpy bead

I'm right handed, how come you ask?

What difference would the 0.8mm wire make to welding?

hi mate it looks to me like your nearly there but looks like a simple case of too much wire feed the reason i say this is because you have got your weave horizontily decent but down vertical you seem to be quite flat[ie too much wire] turn your wire down just a tad as you dont need as much wire on the way down because you gather steel as you go with any weld but gravity has got you and thats where most of your spatter is,also pure co2 wont help your spatter you really need an argon mix,hope this helps

0.8mm wire makes better use of the power of your MIG plus you can turn down the wire speed and make welding less manic

I'm not really good a interpretting photos, but my first thoughts are, go up to 0.8mm wire, change to an argon/CO2 mix, and go up one step at least on your amp settings.

I'd love to have argon/CO2, but can't justify the cost of bottle rental, for the amount of welding I do
