The hex looks way to shallow for anything that requires big torque such as hub nuts.

Look very like for hub nuts on lorrys iv made a few on the laser for our lorrys in work

With you @MattH the actual hex only appears to be about 1\4 inch deep the one showing numbers on flat is 1"13/16 I think.
The actual hex seems to be a fixed depth across all sizes.
Only found the pic on another site so no mug @Bob

Yeah, for driving cable gland nuts I should think They look like proper industrial size drivers so are probably proprietary or manufactured to order in such low volume they'll be under the radar. The military like to have such tools, could there be a link to them being ex-army?

commercial hub nuts i bet, the nuts are actually very shallow and not very tight at all, 1st one is basicly just fingr tight and the 2nd is just there to lock it off and a tab banged over to stop anything moveing
