what are little golf clubs made of ?

I was doing a shed tidy and noticed some ancient golf clubs that should be disposed of. So some had ally heads and I set about sawing them off for the scrap pile. Others were old ones made of steel and wood. Some other old ones had 'stainless' printed on them. I put a magnet to them and it stuck, but not sticking hard like steel, sort of trying to stick, but barely holding on. Sort of 'sticky'

Well even though these clubs are very old i had always thought they were stainless steel. Are they one of the magnetic stainless steels anyone think ?

Does anyone have any knowlege of the make up of old gold clubs ?

(I checked and there is no rust at all on these mystery clubs, even though some similarly old steel ones have started to rust)

Anyone have any thoughts ?

Stainless ones may just be the fact that theres also a chrome plated steel shaft running through it into the neck ?

Some of them may be worth more as a whole though on ebay

Some stainless steels are magnetic so yes, the heads will be stainless.
If they're old they won't be worth selling on, even wooden ones aren't really worth anything unless they're rare ones, there's just too many of them still about.

Oh I don't know. A Ping Slazenger Jack Nicklaus or a Gary Player is worth well into four figures and dates from the '60s. Any old Scottsdale Ping will get £100+. Any 85029 Ping will be worth £50 and none of them are that old.
