OK...Clarke MIG 160, 0.8 steel wire, argoshield universal. Trying to stick a length of square section to the floor of an old car. The car floor is buffed back and is surprisingly good clean metal. The square section is likewise clean. The earth is good. I'm welding 'uphill' pointing upwards. Doesn't matter what settings im using , the wire seems to be 'burning off' and balling. It's falling clear of the metal, clogging the coller and just not penetrating. This is kinda new. The arc also looks kinda green.????? As soon as i put the earth on a bit of the square section on the bench it welds just fine????
