I recently did my first piece of proper MIG welding on my car, info here http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/...-my-first-real-project-advice-welcomed.63085/
At times I struggled getting a nice clean arc. Often the arc would fizz rather than cleanly buzz, sometimes with a green-ish glow. The weld pool would ball up on the end of the wire and not take to the 'job'. This resulted in virtually no penetration with balls of weld stuck on the surface. Why might this happen?
I was working outside and it was a little windy, was this my shielding gas getting blow away?
