I doubt a little petrol will damage the engine. Considering the crap I've run diesel engines on over the years....erm.....
You do need to drain the tank, I'd do it by disconnecting the fuel line at the pump and slaving in another electric pump to empty the tank.

Watch out for the disposal of environmental waste charge for getting rid of your petrol.
This is what I was planning to do (similar) but am too busy at work, so have dropped it of a local mechanic (very local, he is pushing the van from my front door the whole 5 doors to his lockup

His rates are good, so is his work, and I think he needs the work, so would rather give it to him while I sit in the office earning it

As for getting rid of it, I was actually just going to let it evaporate, and a small amount may have found its way onto the bonfire (not neat, but soaked in sawdust, rags etc.)
Anyway, he'll sort that out now, while I sort out my drawings (Client presentation tomorrow and they have just discovered a lot of what was done in Bangalore is wrong
