Had this for 6 months.
Why. I found MIG (gas) fumes getting to me, also, the job I was doing required a lot of welds being ground flush and the grinding dust got to me as well.
Choice. I would have gone for the air kit for my Speedglas 9100 but
a; it was above my budget and would not have had the grinding shield.
b, I don't need airfed for TIG and so the 9100 would be kept for that.
c; the Weltek still squeezed my budget but I had to do something, disposables were OK ish but not ideal.
In use.
At first I found it heavy and fiddly, but gradually sorted that. The first use was a revelation and I was dead chuffed at no fumes.
The grinding mask is great, I can move straight to prep or grinding flush without faffing about, I find the hood cuts out a fair bit of the noise from the grinder, so don't wear ear protection, but don't know if hearing is adequately protected.
My model does not have removable side panels like my speedglas, but not found that to be a problem.
Mask operates well. I have cheater lens fitted.
Its now comfortable, and I am used to kitting up and working in it. No real problems for me, one thing is, in the cold weather, the air was chilling my face, I have several thin balaclavas for motorcyling, so I wore one of those.
In the warmer weather, the air is cooling and keeps me fresh.
I got caught doing the spaceman walk by the post lady delivering a registered letter. This is where removable side panels can be handy.
