I'm welding a old vauxhall viva and need a good, reliable welder the assistant in my local tool store says it's a good reliable welder

Never heard of them either. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the Viva, I had a 1965 HA when I was younger and it was an alright motor and I learnt to drive in a HC.

P.S. what's the poll about I voted for both ?

They would wouldn't they.
I've never heard of them either. What is your budget? Would also need some gas etc. You'll probably better Trying BOC in Inverness for that.

In any case You'll want the minimum Amps to be 30A. That will be fine for thin car steel and some .6mm wire.

you may be able to get a decent 2nd hand, but most are down south so getting them up to you would be expensive.
