welding wire

i have bought a large coil of welding wire from this shop, and i was wondering will it fit straight into the welder as it seems very heavy compared to what i was using, i was not sure if it would affect the feed to the nozzle and will the holder will take the weight, i am using a wolf mig 140 gas/gasless, or should i rewind it onto a 4" reel

I would rewind it if its the right wire dia for your welder. I rewind them all the time. I use my metal lathe but you could just as easy use a drill press or even a hand drill...Bob

Most small welder will take 11lb reels (5kg.) Usually the adapters are included or the holder has 2 steps.

should be fine

once the wire has been through the feed 3m of 0.6 mm wire up the liner is the same whether its off a small reel or a large one.

you may have to play with the tension on the wire reel spindle to get it so that it stops the same time as the feed and keeps the wound wire under tension

if my puny SIP feed can take a big reel anything can

i put it on the welder today and it fits,, but the tension is too tight due to the weight and it is not feeding properly, so i think i will respool it
good idea with the lathe, i think i will have a go at that
