i was welding up a subframe at work the other day, and most of the time it was ok, but every now and again a molten blob tried travelling back up the wire towards to tip, is there a way to stop this happening or is that just the way it goes.
It's well worth turning the wire speed up a little when welding overhead. The wire does have a tendency to burn back when it is fighting against gravity.
Keeping the torch close to the work can also help, but mostly it's in the wire speed.
ok cool, thanks for that, i did instictively turn the wire feed up a notch, i think i may have been a little too far from the work piece when it was doing it as it was only every now and again.
