welding torch holder

A development of my coathangers idea, Jaeger asked if I could make a magnetic torch holder, 'What???' 'why??' I thought then realised he meant a welding torch.
Like this?




A lot of fannying about to get the fingers right, but it seems to do the job.
How much? £45.00 supply your own magnet.
This one is on a carboot sale find, or I can supply half the adjustable one from the bottom of this list for £15.00

i guess its a work of art and thats what yor paying for, if i had one i'd probably use it once and pop it in the steel box and probably cut it up for a job lol

Very nicely done! Sadly my garage doens't have space for one, nor do I have any money to spend.

I am going to make my own, not a hand though. Anyone know where (or even if) I can buy a few fairly strong magnets that I can weld onto my holder? That's a really nice idea as I would like it to protrude a bit above the table, but don't want it to be in the way, so a magnet would be perfect.

I've got some of those type magnets, but I guess araldite would do, or simply nut/bolt. I've also got some old hard disks, and they have some mighty magnets in them. Might try to use those.

Old hard drives have magnets in them ? Whoa i just thrown out half a dozen old computers, but i think i still have some drives somewhere?

I have a couple of thse magnets lying around somewhere, be careful they bite.
I picked two of them and 'SNAP' they flipped and nipped my hand.
You might manage to spot weld a holder on the back of them, but welding on magnets gets a bit weird, also to much heat and you wont have a magnet anymore.
Stainless? no just mild steel.
Note this design is heavily patented and protected by Chunkoletta, and she can bite as well.

Those unobtanium magnets do lose power once shown heat, I tried a couple out as mini welding magnets just because there were 'there'/curiosity, but they lasted a couple mins only before being useless.

Yes, disks have very powerful magnets in them, and as Chucko says; the bite. A lot! Very fun to give to noisy brats.

I think they all have magnets, they are under the read arm lever, and usually the arm has a park magnet.

Made a torch holder, not hand shaped, yesterday. I used a magnet from a disk I gutted. I'll try to post pics later.
