Welding table

Just about to order a 10mm table top but wondering is there's any treatment that should be done to it once I get it. Is it just a case of keeping it clean.

I don’t treat mine ever. Unless you count a grind now and again and a flash with wd40 if I’ve spilt something on it.

Nothing special. It may even be cold rolled. Can’t remember now I’ve had it a while. Mines thinner than yours but the principle is the same re care. Or lack of in my case

Same here for the home workshop - my bench is an old kitchen prep table with a stainless steel top plus a drawer which houses all my drill bits. When I was in the trade, my bench had a large chunk of 3/4" mild steel on top of a very sturdy wooden bench. If I tacked anything to it, the grinder got put to use. A flat file removed any spatter that had settled and every now and then I gave it the once over with a wire brush. The firm went bust some months after I left - I wish I'd bought that bench for home.

That’s not bad. I pay £210 a sheet for 10mm and that’s brought to Orkney.
