I have a 10ft x 5ft x 16mm thick sheet of steel that I want to make a welding table from.
I also have lengths of 160mm x 60mm channel iron. Would two of them be enough under the sheet of steel to support it without cross members in the middle, if I kept it in about 9 inches from the side the span in the middle between the two supports would be about 3ft.
Would the channel be better at the edge and have cross members or maybe a third channel running up the middle.
Any other ideas?
