Welding stainless steel steam pipe.

Can anyone help me please i am welding 3" stainless steel steam pipe and was wondering if 316L rods would be ok?

Seriously,
Steam can kill, if you need to ask what filler to use then I wouldn't attempt it.
Welding steam you should have a WPS
Regarding your question, 316 filler wire can be used on all lower grade 300 series stainless steels eg 304 308 ect

Agree with the above post, there should be a weld procedure you should have access to to see what exactly is required,

I believe the grade used for steam pipe is 316L which is OK upto 300 and odd centigrade. Any hotter and another grade may be used.

Obviously I dont know if the grade in question is 316L
