Seriously? Wow. I could point you in the direction of a welding forum with almost double the total number of members of this site. Does that make it automatically twice as good as this place? What if i told you that of the active members, trolls/keyboard warriors/halfwits and inbreds that you wouldn't trust to sit on the loo the right way round outnumber those know what they're talking about?

I recently joined a metalshaping forum to get in touch with a member there that was looking for a Ranalah English wheel. That site has nearly 50,000 members. Probably 90+% of new posts are new member introductions as (1) you have to be a member to see photos/many sections and (2) introductions are mandatory to keep membership

Welding tricks and tips is old news to many of us here but is a useful resource as the guy behind it knows what he's doing/talking about. No idea if he participates much if at all on the sites forum but a good forum is more about the personalities of members and the quality of their posts, not numbers.

One can never have too many sources of information. Relying on one source alone will always lead to a limited knowledge. Plus, quality and quantity don't necessarily go hand in hand. Member count is a poor measure of quality. Ten knowledgeable people are more useful than 100 numpties.

Welding tricks and tips is old news to many of us here but is a useful resource as the guy behind it knows what he's doing/talking about.

I subscribed to his weekly emails and they're quite good. Obviously he has to cover a lot of topics but usually there's something interesting if not entirely relevant to my area of expertise (ha!), and he had loads of youtube videos which are great. He pushes his 'TIG finger' product a bit but you can also buy his tips on a DVD etc.

I too am signed up to receive Jody Colliers weekly demonstration video's, He does show some good techniques etc and the camera work is very good and clearly shows the weld pool and torch action (not just a bright arc with nothing to see until the weld is finished) It' totally free to sign up with no downsides that I can see, Well worth the effort.There are a couple of items he sells to help cover his time and effort but no obligation at all to purchase anything.

Glad to help - I like this forum a lot but I'm always happy to see new sites and make my own mind up about them.
