welding side loader forks

anyone ever done it. its just the heels of the forks have wornand its 4 grand for new ones.
i dont want to even try it. any of you lads able to do it.
was thinking of getting a few numbers etc for work to try. prefer the money to go to someone on here though.
it will need building up around 30mm at least.

[Drains]

You shouldn't go near forks with a welder. They're forged, heat treated, made as a pair etc etc. Put a weld on them, they lose their strength, so when (not if) they break and drop a load on someone, the insurance man will laugh at you (and they ain't got a sense of humour!)

It's asking for trouble Scotty. Unless you can find someone who can repair and re-temper them, or whatever it takes.

Try looking up phone number for express forklifts, the wireless station, Kneesworth, there is a company in peterborough they deal with which used to do them and you get a cert as well.

Scotty, I googled forklift fork repair, and these boys came up. Black country based, not so far from you. Look like the proper job.

cheers drains, forks are approx 1500 tip to heel.
