At the chance of being ridiculed I thought I’d post up a pic of some welds I’ve done today fitting some gusset plates to my rollcage in my track Beetle 1303.
I’ve been welding for a while, pretty much self teaching myself and reading stuff online but stumbled across this forum recently and see no harm in asking how I could improve more.
I’ve also posted a picture of my welder and how I’ve got it setup. The 2 bottom knobs I’ve never used .
I’m using argon co2 5% mix with a flow meter at 10flm.
The gusset plates are made 1.5mm plate. I used a flapping disc just to smooth them off as you can see.
I know the tidiest would be to TIG weld them in, but as much as I have invested in a TIG, A. I don’t have a pure Argon bottle for it, and B. I’ve never TIG welded so want to practice on something else first .
Any advice is welcomed
