I'm currently looking into finding work overseas as a mig (work has dried up at home) weld but most of the recruitment agencies invovled ask for a fee to be paid before helping you to fing work. How can i get work abroad without having to pay someone to find work for me. Does anyone know!!!

.... this will at least bump your post up the forum so someone who can answer you question sensibly will see it ,unfortunatley agencies seem to be very popular, my last job came from an agency but at least they charged the company a finders fee not me

I have not worked specifically in the welding field but have spent my working life dealing with main and subcontractors on engineering projects around the world , mainly outside Europe . Dont pay a recruitment agency an advance fee as already said the proper way is for the agency to get paid by the employer and thats the way the good agencies work , if it were up to me there would a law preventing agencies charging a fee to the worker and my opinion about the people who do this is very low , they are leaches like time share sellers and boiler room share conmen . There is very little work for europeans on projects outside europe like the middle east or the far east as there are well skilled Indian and Philippino migrant workers who will work for less than £3 an hour but they dont get into europe due to the difficulty getting a work visa .
