I don't normally have anything to do with the hateful things......but if you have to weld a modern one with ECU and loads of electric, what is the official advice?
I leave it as is, removing the battery can make things worse as it adds surge protection.
The main thing is keeping the work lead close to the work and always on the same system (i.e never ground to frame when doing exhaust welding.)
When doing exhaust, it is a good idea to unplug any oxy sensors just in case.
Some disconnect battery. If so, short the batt leads together. There are protection devices available but i would not trust them over leaving connected or disconnecting the batt and shorting the leads.
