thought i'd share some anecdotes;been hanging yard gates across a farm yard today & making a padlock shroud ,using my 'fusion' 110v welder -the bloke who designed the original one is a partner in the farm[not a coincidence as i already knew him] so he was pleased to see it in action.then talking with one of the other partners about industrial development he informs me his great great grandfather was Richard Thomas ,he who founded the great conglomerate of Richard Thomas & Baldwins, with iron & steel works all over s.wales & forest of dean & was later absorbed into 'BSC' This is even more surprising in such a rural area as this ,because another local [to me] farm is owned by similar giants of steel making history ,the Guest family. You just have to open your ears & eyes as history is all around us,not just in museums/visitor centres.
