Welding from 6 kva generator ?

Had one almost the same, they do line up the trick is, don't tighten any bolts until they're all in

I've had it apart so many times 50% of the bolts are now so far out they will never go back in.

I replaced them all with m8's as you say the old ones aren't upto much
