Should I be using a 7018 rod for this. It is a stub shaft on an implement and takes a bit of pressure. I always assumed different metals should use these rods.

Thanks for that. Will be a nice job on Tuesday welding it back in.It helps prevent rapid cooling which for these types of steel can cause brittleness........not all steels and En14 is at the lower end of susceptibility
So its just to be on the safe side
believe it or not these numbers were allocated before i was born so ive no idea if there is any logic in them. En8 is a plain carbon steel, en14 is a CMn and En16 is an alloyed steel.Bit ot but is en14 between 8 and 16?
