welding electrical items?

hi all , i need to mig weld a couple of plates on the front of my makita concrete breaker to stop the chisel falling out, is it ok to weld and throw a current through a mains powerwd tool ? will it cause a problem?, I know when i do any welding on my landrovers i have to dissconect the battery, cheers del

shouldn't be an issue. make sure its unplugged and the plug pins are not touching anything conductive

Agreed, just to be extra careful i always try to keep my eath clamp as close to the weld point as possible to prevent the current going through the electrical circutry. better safe than sorry.

also keep the welding current path away from bearings, they don't like having current passed through them.
