welding classes. school?

im looking to improve my welding skills and would like to take a evening course on it. not looking to do it for a living just somthing i want to be good at doing. im in west london area, has anyone here done a cousre, and what costs will i be looking at?

I did quite a good one term (10 weeks) course at Plumpton Agricultural College in Sussex a couple of years ago. I believe that it's still going. Good tutor. Covered MMA and MIG. Second term available for more advanced topics.

I did mine at Trowbridge College

"The course will introduce the 4 common manual welding processes - ARC, MIG, TIG & Gas - and help learners attain a basic level of competence. "

We were treated as adults and after the basic introductions we could just get stuck in and practice on which ever kit and technique we wanted to.

The instructor - also does the alloy welding at the local race circuit.

Definitely recommend it, practicing with other peoples kit in a safe and friendly environment. Talking to others on the course was useful too.

Go for it, see what your local college has to offer.
