Is it possible to weld chicken wire to a thicker wire frame?

Yes but the thickness difference will make it quite hard to do

You might with gas, using solder. Anything else will be nigh on impossible nightmare with the galv

Wouldnt Tig welding be an option. Similar to gas welding but probably a bit more controlable in terms of where you place the heat?

Havent tried my Tig welder yet so no expert.

If you have lots and LOTS to do then get (hire?) a spot welder maybe

ps for the low voltage you would need you could make one. Look up home made spot welders usually someone welding the contact strips on NiCa batteries

Don't weld the wire itself. Use a small flat washer to hold the wire to the frame just slip over and plug weld the washer hole to the frame or even tack the edge. That way you don't burn off the thin wire...Bob

You can do that kind of thing quite easily with a Mig.
Set the power so you just get penetration on the larger piece.
Start the weld on the larger section, give it a second or two to stabilize then slip the weld pool onto the wire, see it start to melt and stop.
Practice a few times first to get a feel for it.
Will drive you crazy at first then become easy.

As chunko says, get a good pool on the thicker metal then 'flick' across the thin mesh. same could be said for tigging, but I would think migging would be the best/easiest method. Gas/soldering would work with this method too, I suppose it will be down to experience/preffered method.

Well you lot must be talking about a different type of mesh to me. As chicken mesh can only be .6mm wire and it's hot dipped in Galv.

Reckon that would still work, use the weld pool to melt it not the arc.
I will see if i can find some and have a go next time I am in the Ratcave.
