Welding apron Asbestos or leather?

I’ve just cut up an old welding apron, but then I had my doubts about the material it’s made from

Its about 2mm thick and quite heavy

I’ve had it years, I can’t even remember where it came from

yep, chrome tanned leather

Erm,why did you cut it up?

I cut a piece out to make a cover for the top of my welding mask, as the light was reflecting off the ceiling in my workshop.

I think my brother gave it to me many years ago after he finished working as a welder. I just presumed it was leather, then I had a nasty thought it could have been asbestos!
