Evening chaps,
I'm currently three months (and roughly two square metres of steel) into my '72 Peugeot 304 convertible project.
I started at the back of the car, and have so far repaired the boot floor; rear inner arches; fabricated new sills; and put in a new passenger floor.
My problem is that I've now reached the front subframe: it seems generally good, but there is a small hole surrounding one of the four bolts that holds it to the body.
I need to know whether it is safe to weld with the engine in place: I'll be welding an area directly under the engine (and specifically, roughly 18" under the fuel pump). The fuel tank and front to rear fuel lines have already been removed.
So, will I be ok to go ahead? Ideally, I'd like to leave the engine in situ.
Any advice gratefully received
