Not using the torch as a hammer helps reduce the amount of nozzles used in the week i have found!!

You mean you cant hit things with them? dam that means i have to use another tool for hitting thing. Is a square any good to hit things with?

Id use a 3" square for light work and a 9" for heavy.

Truth be know every square i own has had the corner ground out of it. so i can check squareness after i have a bead of weld down

That's a great idea! I tend to hold it to the edge of the weld and check whether it's square by the gap, never thought to grind a corner off the square. It's useful little tips like that which set aside the pros from the diyers Keep em coming people!

I've already got a little 6x4 horizontal/vertical one and I use it to death but the one I've just bought is a used 12x7 clarke one for £277. Nearly bought a brand new one recently for £600 but decided I couldn't justify the cost. Glad I didn't now! I love having a bandsaw, it's like having a second pair of hands to cut stuff while I'm drilling or welding .

My electrode holder has a pointy bit of steel welded to it for knocking off slag!. Lay down a bead, knock off the slag, pick up next rod...saves valuable seconds looking for slag hammer!

Too true - bought a Rolson double barrel footpump last year for inflating bicycle tyres. £4.99 - that'll do nicely thought I - until I went to use it and one of the cylinder mountings broke. Complete rubbish. Now being used as donor metal

Oh and the airline leaked too. Hope they're better with their nuclear power construction programme

Rolson pressurised water reactor? Now that would definitely power my Portamig! Strangely enough, I haven't come across those on Ebay.
