Hi everyone I just brought a Clark 90 mig welder. I had a few problems from the start was a sticking trigger I stripped it down used light mechane oil jobs a gooden. Now I have fired her up she doesn't like to weld, seems to heat the wire it sticks and then does the same il get a pic off the weld. Any ideas

Is it a new reel of wire or is it old, rusty rubbish?
Even light surface rust will cause feeding issues.
Does the feed roller rotate smoothly with no tension on the wire feed mechanism?
If so then another thing to do is service the torch with a new tip, liner and swan neck spring.

im waiting for the wife to get back so i can take a pic i can not find one one the web, the weld if can be called that is just a mix of about 1mm length bits of mig wire fused together,
the welder does not seem to have the power to make it melt the wire correctly. when i brought the welder it had been stood for donkey's, it had a full real of 0.6 that i removed half to get to good wire with no corrosion then try'd 0.8 same effect i then tryed new gas as thinking the old gas went off or something still no joy.
i have try'd doing test welds on fresh clean metel it wont penetrate and barely stick's.
my thoughts are a bad connection between the mig wire and what ever gives the mig wire a current maybe light corrosion or even worse a bad capacitor. will get pic uploaded asap

right il start off by saying i can weld i spent 3 years working for a exhaust fabrication where i learnt how to weld with mig and tig mainly mig i was welding stainless at the time.
i have tested it on some 0.8mm sheet that was new no rust i sanded it sown to double check contact. on the welder itself it does not have a power option only have wirefeed
speed. on/off min/max 1/2 i have tryed all settings

Sorry Jay, that pic doesn't help in the slightest.
Regarding power settings, it has 4, that's what the 1/2/min/max are.
Min 1 is lowest for this stuff, max 2 highest for thicker stuff.

If you have a meter then back off wire feed so no wire will feed then set meter on DCvolts, clamp one lead of meter with welder earth clamp and with other lead meter the contact tip while operating trigger. You should get aprox 14 to 22 vDC depending which power setting you are on. If you get a much lower reading then follow the earth clamp lead to the inside of machine and find where it's bolted to and meter from there and see what reading you get (may req a second pair of hands) if better you have duff earth lead, if not then you may have to to the same with the tourch power lead. If none of theses shows improvement of the voltage then youmay have duff diode pack or transformer. That will req more indepth explination. Comeback with results of above first.

That test won't identify a high resistance earth, only a completely open one, as the current drawn by the meter won't drop enough volts over a high resistance. The test results will still look OK with a faulty earth.
