hi i bought a clarke 100e mk2 for discovery project and people think its to low powered for my chassis work, so is a Sealey supermig 180 any good thanks ??
It seems Clarke do not give the specs of this particular machine in their old manual. Therefore proceed with caution.
Take a good look at the faceplate on the machine, and either give tech details or post a clear picture on here, so someone can give more detailed advice.
With a m/c that cheap, even s/h for a 190 Amp, there is always the chance that it may have a minimum low setting of around 40 - 50 Amps, so therefore not good for thin metalwork, including car panels in particular.
The 100 is probably fine - people hear "chassis" and think of massive lumps of metal but Land-Rover chassis aren't made of that much thicker metal than normal car bodywork that they need something silly big to weld them.
