Hello friends, along with the project of converting an AC arc welding with covered electrode to DC, wonder if it is correct to perform a welding machine that has a triac with a pulse width modulator PWM. This process would have the same effect as a magnetic shunt?

Converting an AC elder to DC just requires adding a rectifier bridge, a reactor coil and some protection devices for the diodes.

I have no idea what you mean by "magnetic shunt". If you want to control power by PWM, then that would require more work and is not a simple task to do reliably.
